Since its establishment in 1997, Coaldale Walnuts has built a thriving orchard of Franquette and Chandler grafted varieties. The cold climate and the alluvial soil on the banks of the Coal River near historic Richmond in southern Tasmania contribute to the quality and flavour of the walnuts.
